This is 041465 of the Blood Gold Hive - or just Zero. She is her Queen's most trusted servant and acts as a kind of second in command and proxy. She frequently makes decisions for the Queen in her absence.
She was part of the group that left with a young Queen that had lost the fight for that hive's throne, so Zero is actually the Queen's sister.
Members of the royal party in Melliferian hives are discouraged from having other important jobs, since they need to be available at any time for the Queen. Without useful things to do with the majority of their time, they nurture their eccentricities. Zero has a thing for spoons and collects them.
The Milliferians are fantastic. Love the reflection in that spoon, too.

What, you mean the markings between their eyes? If so, Zero's just a freak and doesn't have any, the species as a whole still has them (except drones).
It's the lighting and her heritage. The Blood Gold bees are a lighter yellow with blacker stripes. And in addition Melliferians weren't really supposed to be a very intense yellow, so they'll look a bit dull compared to when I draw them in Tegaki E (where ALL the colors are intense).
You know, I don't know if insects are ever albino. o_o On that note though, Melliferian nymphs are white.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Is Zero an albino, or is that just the light? Or is her bee species just pale? Are there such a thing as albino insects? o_o
