Deus Apis Mellifera by DimeSpin Deus Apis Mellifera by DimeSpin
I made a bee shrine. =B

The quote inside the lid says "The artist, then, is sipping from the flowers of life and is offering us the sweetest thing it is possible to imagine: the honey of creation." - Juan Antonio Ramirez

Made with an Altoids tin, illustration board, bristol board, flexible modeling paste, acrylic paint, a sepia Copic multiliner, candy wrapper foil, a small yellow stone of unknown type, elmer's glue and the kitchen sink.

The kitchen sink is always a finishing touch. One can tell when it's left out.

It's lovely.

Beautiful piece. It reminds me a lot of Ursula Vernon's "Pollinator Shrine." [link] C:

I love the quote you used: who exactly is Juan Antonio Ramirez? I tried looking him up, but the only answers I got were in Spanish. ^^;

Thanks. =)

I don't know much about him, besides that he's a professor and he wrote a book about the relationship between the honey bee and modern architecture. Here, I found something in English.

What a gorgeous shrine! I like how you have the three stages of the larvae in there, and I have to say I adore the background you used too.

This is lovely, all the more so for its being an interactive object. It's like a hidden chamber in a book, but better. :)
